Tips & Hints | Bear Making Terms

Expert or beginner, casual crafter or professional. Teddy Bears Den will help you with step by step details to support a bear makers passion!

  1. Long needles - 6", 8", & 12"

  2. Choose a jointing system: plastic, lock nut, cotter pins, hardboard discs

  3. Needles and good quality sewing thread, upholstery thread (for closing), "dental floss" (to set eyes), thimble & needle grabber

  4. Sharp scissors - shears and small embroider size

  5. Needle nose pliers

  6. Assortment of perle cottons to embroider noses

  7. Glass eyes - have an assortment so that the "best size" for your bear can be chosen

  8. Awl - for making joint holes

  9. Hemostat for turning small pieces

  10. Permanent black marker to mark fabric

  11. Fingertip or larger bunka brush for taking fur out of seams

  12. Long shank glass head pins (or bear clamps)

  13. Stuffing; plastic pellets, glass beads, excelsior, Polyester Fiberfil
